Mr. Goukassian is a resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan. He earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice at Wayne State University.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was a highly-respected judge in Armenia, Mr. Goukassian pursued his dream of becoming an attorney. Mr. Goukassian graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2017. Mr. Goukassian excelled in law school, receiving Certificate of Merit awards in several areas. Mr. Goukassian served as the president of the Mock Trial board and successfully competed in mock trial competitions. He won the first-year competition and subsequently earned awards including best junior and senior litigator. Mr. Goukassian was also the teaching assistant the assistant dean in criminal procedure.
Eager for exposure to the courtroom, Mr. Goukassian interned as an assistant prosecutor in the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office.
In that role, he gained valuable experience issuing warrants, holding pretrial conferences, interacting with state troopers and defense attorneys, and conducting preliminary examinations. This exposure led him to develop an appreciation for those who represent and defend people accused of crimes. From there, Mr. Goukassian clerked for the Honorable Leo Bowman of the Oakland County Circuit Court and gained exposure to a wide range of civil and criminal matters. These experiences during law school helped Mr. Goukassianrealize how hard the best lawyers work to represent their clients and how important every case is.
After graduation, Mr. Goukassian accepted a position at a small firm. There, he handled complex legal matters and gained additional experience in courtrooms all across Michigan.
Since joining the firm, Mr. Goukassian has represented clients in a variety of complex legal matters. A dedication to preparation and client communication has helped him achieve outstanding results.
