Southfield, Michigan stakes claim to the outskirts of Detroit in what locals call "The Center of it All".  Founded by John Daniels in 1823, Southfield, MI lies within Oakland County in the prestigious Automation Alley.  Southfield Township borders the City of Southfield on its north side.  At the time of the 2000 Census, Southfield reported a population of 78,296.
