Livonia, Michigan nestles halfway between the busy cities of Ann Arbor and Detroit in beautiful Wayne County.  This massive Detroit suburb consists of nearly 36 square miles and joins with the metro area via freeways.  At the time of Census 2000, Livonia had a population of 100,545 individuals, and ranked as the second largest city in Wayne County.

Livonia, MI lies within a busy high-tech corridor, with strategic east-west access via I-96, and north-south access via the I-275 expressway.  Livonia's industrial area concentrates within a six square mile region, providing access to all sections of the metro area through major railroad and highway access.  More than 5,000 businesses exist in Livonia, MI, the largest of which include Ford Motor Company, General Motors, The Harvard Drug Group, St. Mary Mercy Hospital, and United Parcel Services.  Estimates from 2007 suggest the median household income of Livonia residents averages $70,844 per year.  The national average is $50,233.

Livonia Public Schools includes two early childhood centers, thirteen elementary schools, four upper elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools, and a Career Center.  This school district has consistently ranked among Michigan's top five district since the 1960's.  There are also six parochial elementary schools and one parochial senior high school.  In addition, Livonia has a small selection of higher learning facilities.  These include a branch of Davenport University, Madonna University, Schoolcraft College, and a Continuing Education Center of Eastern Michigan University.

Livonia, Michigan features culturally rich activities that bring the community together throughout the year.  These include Livonia Spree, Music Under the Stars, and St. Andrew's Society of Detroit Highland Games at the Greenmead Historic Village.  Livonia Parks and Recreation Department operates nearly fifty municipal parks that cover approximately 1,800 acres.  These parks provide forty-two baseball fields, thirty-three tennis courts, twenty-seven soccer fields, twenty-two playgrounds, and three golf courses.  The 130,000 square foot Community Recreation Center affords public access to facilities that include a climbing wall, a fitness center, gyms, pools, a skate park, and outdoor courts and fields.

Livonia, MI boasts an abundance of entertainment venues, such as movie theaters, nightclubs, and dining establishments that range from casual to upscale.  Livonia is home to numerous boutiques and shops, and is the site of major shopping centers such as Laurel Park Place and Livonia Mall.  Other popular destinations in the area include the events of the Livonia Hockey Association, the Livonia Symphony Orchestra, and the Wilson Barn.

This award winning community has much to celebrate.  Population Connection ranked Livonia the 2nd Best Kid Friendly Place in the nation, and in 2008 Popular Science listed Livonia among the top 50 Green Cities in the United States.  Livonia, MI also has the FBI's seal of approval as the 7th Safest City in the country, and the American City Business Journals rated Livonia the 2nd Least Economic Stressful City.

Livonia, Michigan lies within two miles of western Detroit and 22 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. Close proximity to such a massive city, has lead to unprecedented urban growth.  Despite such large increases in population, Livonia has managed to maintain its charming, hometown ambiance.  Livonia successfully lives the city motto: "People Come First".
